Bipolar disorder can be a devastating illness, seriously affecting not only the person with bipolar but also their children, partner, parents, family and friends. Family Experiences of Bipolar Disorder is a personal and honest account of bipolar disorder. The author Cara Aiken has lived with bipolar for 10 years, and in this book she gathers together her experiences and those of a host of contributors to portray the reality of the illness and its impact on family life. Let me show you Dog Heaven’ is my first children’s book on the subject of pet loss.

It is beautifully illustrated, bright and colourful, with simple text throughout.  It gently takes the child through the loss, acceptance and grief, swiftly moving on to their dog’s fun filled journey in a fantasy Dog Heaven.

I was inspired to write this book due to my own difficulty, in overcoming, and finally accepting, the loss of my own beloved dog.

My coping strategy at that time came from a purely ‘childlike’ vision I had created in my mind. I do tend to revert back to my inner child where emotions are concerned.

With a passion to comfort children through their journey of grief, I decided to share my vision, by way of publishing this book.

I truly hope, as a direct result, many children will benefit from this.
